The new Augustana CD is spectacular. About once every 3-4 months I find an album, new or old that I’m hearing for the first time that I know is going to be pure gold based on the first listen. The last ones for me were Four Year Strong’s Rise or die trying and The Gaslight Anthem’s Sink or Swim. It’s been a good 8 months since I’ve had that feeling. The last couple weeks I’ve been blown away by Augustana’s new album. I can’t believe how much they’ve progressed as songwriters. On the last album they had a couple great songs, a couple songs with just great choruses, and a couple other songs with a couple great hooks. This album is great from top to bottom. It’s sort of a coming-of-age album about finding yourself, a subject Augustana seems to thirve on. Either way, they play to their strengths of pulling at your heartstrings while playing great big arena sounding rock.

Is it weird that I really like getting buzzed on a sunday afternoon and riding around on my bike? Is it weird that I losten to bands like M.I.A. and Regina Spektor? Is it weird that I am completely fine being alone at home for a really long time? I really like riding my bike these days. I have rode my bike to and from work for three days straight now. It really wakes me up in the morning just cruising down Cajon St at 830 in the morning making it to work in less than 10 minutes. How awesome is that? I think it’s funny how people at work can’t believe that I ride my bike to work. They act like I’m crazy. When did the US get full of such lazyass people that someone who rides their bike to work is thought of as weird? haha
35 freaking days until the wedding. Unbelievable. I just downloaded the 500 greatest classic rock songs of all time so I’m on that kick. Things are great. Things are always great. Josh graduated college this weekend. how insane is that? In other news the new Augustana album is spectacular and beautiful.
